“The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us.”
― Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
About Me
I'm Kiersty. I am a student, a teacher, a reader, a traveler and a writer. I enjoy reading and writing about literature, which is why I chose to begin my MA in Hispanic Literature at Brigham Young University. During my undergraduate career, I studied Spanish and the Humanities. In addition to Spanish, I also speak Portuguese and am working to improve my skills in that language.
Travel
I enjoy travelling and seeing new places. All the pictures on this site are ones I have taken myself as I have traveled. I was able to travel with my family during my growing-up years. I have visited Mexico, Chile, Bermuda, and many parts of the USA. In 2009, I had the opportunity to visit Spain on a study abroad. It was an excellent experience. While I was there, I was able to study Spanish literature and visit places I had only read about before. I hope to return someday. In March 2014, I traveled to Orlando Florida to present a paper on Rosa Montero's Lágrimas en la lluvia. I received a Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowship, which allowed me to study Portuguese in Lisbon, Portugal during the summer of 2014. While there, I also met and interviewed Rosa Montero, then I traveled to Spain where I was able to visit and interview Fernando J. López del Oso, author of Yeti. In August 2014, I went to WorldCon in London.
